We really don't have that many- so I don't want to hear any complaints. They are more like... guidelines... then they are rules. All the same- they ARE HERE FOR A REASON and it would be an absolute shame if Spellz typed all of this up if you were just going to ignore it.
So don't ignore it- or Spellz will beat you over the head with a rake 8)
We don't want that to have to happen.
So, in short- just follow these guidelines.
Our OOC Guidelines;;-
1} Be Respectful... this should be a given- it's been taught to you (or should have been) since you were very young. It's just nice to be able to go somewhere and know for sure that your ideas and opinions are going to be respected and taken into consideration (even if another person believes them to be wrong) We're all humans, and so we all have opinions deep down- even if you're an obnoxiously agreeable person.
2} Manners, manners... If you do happen to disagree with something someone says- do it in a respectful manner. Word your sentences carefully and try to be sure that no one gets offended. There is a HUGE difference from saying "That's stupid" and "It might just be me, but I don't agree with that."
See what I mean? One is a heck of a lot nicer and it expresses that it is simply your opinion; the first is claiming to be the correct fact.
3} Try not to discuss religion... this often leads to arguments and people getting offended. If you think you can discuss these things maturely, then go ahead... But if things get out of hand- please just drop the conversation like a hot potato and move on to something else. We do not want anyone to get offended; so just try to avoid this.
Our IC Guidelines;;-
1} Literacy... We're not asking for novels every post; just be sure they AT LEAST range around 200 words per post. If you can't post at least that much- you probably should not be posting. However, if the person you're rping with is popping out 700-1,000 word posts; you should be able to at least come close to matching- given how much they have given you to reply to.
I believe this falls under respect; because if I give someone a lot to reply to- I get kinda miffed when they don't give me near as much. So; in short- just be sure that your posts are at least 200 words that are not pure rubbish, and be sure it's something your partner can reply to.
2} Characters... Currently, there is no limit. There may be one installed if we find the members of the site to go "character happy" and then never use half of them- so only create as many as you can handle.
I believe this to be respect for the site and it's admin and members. You wouldn't want to clog up the site and "steal" play-bys and then never use them, ruining the chance for someone else to get them; right?
3} Gary Stues and Mary Sues... These are not very hard to point out. When Spellz looks over your application (because Spellz is known for doing this sort of thing- even if they have been accepted) Spellz will most likely post questions or comments on the character, things that could be improved upon or elaborated further. It's nothing personal- Spellz just likes to "help" people out and that sort of thing.
If your character is deemed either a Gary Stue or a Mary Sue- Spellz is going to point out a few things you could adjust to make it not so Mary Sue-ish. You can trust Spellz's judgment- Spellz has been doing this a long time.
General's Appendix
While Spellbound has covered everything, I would like to add a few comments down here. (Not least because I'm the founder and have to keep up appearances). If you have any qualms with anything, take it up with us, okay? If you have an issue with another member, give us a quote and PM me or Spellbound, or a moderator if neither of us are there. We will take it seriously. Also, this is an 18+ site. If you can't handle that, stay away from the threads that offend you. Or, if you really think something is just wrong, take it up with a staffer.
Time Movement
Time will move roughly the same way as in RL. At the time of writing, it is a little ahead, but when comes into sync, keep it that way. I.E. a thread started on the 24th December is set on Christmas Eve, alright?
Occasionally we will mark a thread as 'Community'. This means it is compulsory for you to post in. Be accomodating; do not ignore other roleplayers, instead, make sure to include them. If you cannot join in, PM me or a staffer within the week. These will mostly be Christmas, or other fancy times of year.
Finally, in IC Rule 1, Spellbound detailed our word requirements. Specifically, I want to mention the 'similar number' bit. I understand some of us will be overenthusiastic, and that some us us simply can't match the biblical scales of posts some people give. I susually fall between 300-500, and suck at going any further. So, If you can't match a word count, PM that person-I am sure nobody will really mind that much-and try your hardest to meet about half of their word count, but if you really, really can't, it is not the end of the world.
Finally, try your hardest to use German whenever possible.
That's my bit done. To the pub!
